Neck Pain

Neck pain is typically classified by pain in the neck itself and pain down your arms. Neck pain with little pain in your arms is usually caused by the joints in your neck, your neck muscles, or the nerves in your neck. The key to achieving the most relief is to first identify the source  causing the most pain.

Treatment for Joint Pain (facet arthropathy

Is more common than most people realize because the joints in the neck essentially wear down through the course of a human’s lifetime. The pain is a deep gnawing pain that is worst when you move your head side to side. We first confirm this with a simple X-ray of the neck and go over the results with you. Once confirmed, we target the nerves that go specifically to the joints that are worn down with a diagnostic injection. If this helps, we will semi-permanently turn off the nerves. Part of the goal with helping you with the pain is to also strengthening the muscles to reduce the stress on the joints. This is how long-term pain relief and functionality is achieved.

Treatment, for Nerve Pain (cervical radiculopathy)

The nerves in your neck come off the spinal cord and go through a hole (the neuroforamen)in your spine before they go through the arms to your hands. The space around the spinal cord can tighten from the joints and bushings (discs) wearing down and forming scar tissue. This tightening of this space causes the nerves to swell which further increases the pressure. Often, an injection the area with steroids is sufficient and reduces the inflammation, and strengthens the muscles so that the stress on the joints is reduced. Unfortunately, this has to be done repeatedly while we rehabilitate your muscles. If we are unable to achieve sustained relief, we may need to escalate your care to a neurosurgeon who can create more space for the nerves.

Treatment, for Muscle Pain

Regardless of the source of your neck pain, the muscles in your neck will tighten up, causing them to work extra hard. This additional stress wears them down and causes pain. We can help. The key to reducing the pain in the muscles is to reduce the stress and allow them time to recover.

Shoulder Pain

The shoulder joint is by far one of the most complex joints in your body. It is involved in a wide range of movements and is located where the upper arm bone meets the shoulder blade.

Treatment

We can target these joints individually with injections to give you relief as we rehabilitate the muscles and help strengthen them to protect your range of motion. Alternatively, we can turn down the nerves going to your shoulder to help with the pain.

K. McCall

"I cannot recommend Dr. Pulikal and his team enough. It is rare to find a team that cares as much as these people do about the outcome of their patients. Truly a treasure of a clinic.

Amber Larsen

"I had lost hope in the medical system. If you have pain and are in need of care, and you're reading this, please do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment. I can't recommend Dr. Adi enough.
