Sciatica
Sciatica refers to pain that travels along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower (lumbar) back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg. The nerves in your lower back come off the spinal cord and go through a hole (the neuroforamen) in your spine before they go through the arms to your hands. The space around the spinal cord can get tight from the joints and bushings (discs) wearing down and forming scar tissue. This tightening of the space causes the nerves to swell which further increases the pressure.
Treatment
Often, it is sufficient to inject the area with steroids to calm the inflammation down and to strengthen the muscles so that the stress on the joints is reduced. Unfortunately, this has to be done repeatedly while we rehabilitate your muscles. If we are unable to achieve sustained relief, we may need to escalate your care to a neurosurgeon who can create more space for the nerves.

ITB Band / Muscle Pain
The muscles of your legs are critical in helping you stay mobile. Depending on the number of miles you have put on them and the injuries you have sustained, they can be a source of significant distress.
Treatment
Our pain management specialists have the capability to isolate which muscle group is the cause of your pain, and after sufficient explanation, develop a plan to help these muscles work better. Sometimes, injections to the muscles may be necessary to help but most often this form of pain benefits from oral medications and good old fashion rehabilitation.
Knee Pain
Knee pain is one of the most common reasons people see us. However, before going for a knee replacement, we may be able to help with alternate methods.
Treatment
One option may be to inject the knees with anesthetic and steroids for temporary relief while we help you rehabilitate. If this does not work, we can go as far as to turn down the nerves that go to the joint with a genicular nerve block.
Ankle & Foot Pain
This pain is caused often by trauma, bone spurs, or damage to the tendons and muscles that allow you to move your foot.
Treatment
The foot is very complex, but by identifying the source of your pain, we would be able to target nearly every one to help get you back on the road.
